We started work on these Little Princess costumes back in the summer when we started working on a prototype similar to and inspired by the film version of “A Little Princess”. The dance teacher wanted a green uniform dress similar to the ones in the film. We made these so they were nice to dance in, a puff sleeve elasticated at the bottom so arms have full range of movement, a skirt with volume so it would move nicely and not restrict movement. The costume also had a large feature collar, tie and sash . It took us ages to source this colour fabric which is just perfect with the darker green satin tie. We also made a set of matching hair ribbons. Here are some photos of the costumes and at the time of writing we have just heard that the dance school secured a 1st place with this classical character ballet piece so congratulations to our client!! You may remember another costume we created for “A Little Princess” solo earlier this year, I have included some photos of that below too, it was the posh frock based on the one worn by Shirley Temple in the birthday party scene.
