We were asked by a dance teacher (what a lovely idea this was) to create some special custom made costumes for a group of 4-6 year olds performing a song and dance routine at dance festivals “a little Dutch boy and a little Dutch girl”. They needed to look Dutch and resemble a Dutch national dance costume but did not need to be as accurate or authentic. This is what we came up with, super cute little dresses with appliqued tulips and stiff white cotton Dutch style winged bonnets and for the boy a gingham waistcoat and trousers and neckerchief to tie in with the girls. He will soon have a lovely black Dutch/Fisherman style cap to finish it all off! There are lots more pictures below.
They had an amazing half term coming first in not one but two festivals!!!! Well done to you all and your dance teacher . Our client was thrilled with these costumes and here is the feedback we received:
We also hear that the adjudicator made very favourable comments about the costumes being perfect for this age and style. We make lots of group costumes for dance schools and we are always happy to provide a quote, we can take one more group booking for despatch end June/July before summer holidays and we already have some group bookings for September so it is always best to get in touch early, so we can get a prototype made up so we are ready to go. We are definitely not the cheapest but we might just be one of the best! Contact us here
These costumes are based on the traditional national folkloric dirndl style with a (pretend) laced up bodice on a gingham background and beautiful quality crochet cotton trim (so you can give it all a good iron and it has a lovely crisp finish) . The rest of the bodices in a lovely shade of blue cotton drill with crisp white poplin puffed sleeves. The aprons are also made from a crisp white poplin with the same crocheted trim and have appliqued tulips . The skirts are very gathered to give some volume and we made them with a big hem to allow for growth. The bonnets were made to an authentic pattern and are elasticated at the back with the traditional Dutch bonnet style wings. These were for a song and dance routine and needed to “look Dutch” rather than be an authentic replica of a traditional national folkloric Dutch dance costume and we absolutely love them, so pretty and perfect for this group’s number. here are lots more pictures below, we did get a bit carried away but they looked so lovely!…………..
