My Fair Lady Song and Dance Costume – ” I could have danced all night!”

Introducing our latest custom made song and dance costume, this time for the “I could have danced all night” song sung by Eliza Doolittle in My Fair Lady.  . Our client loved her costume:

“We are delighted with our costume, the service from Helen from start to finish was amazing. It is exactly as we imagined. I can’t recommend Dance Festival Costumes high enough. We will definitely be using them again.”

This costume consists of a blouse style top made from stretch sheer fabric attached to a built in leotard in matching navy opaque fabric with narrow straps to create an Edwardian look complete with elegant long puff sleeves, high neck, little buttons, matching neck tie and opening at the back.

The skirt was made with an adjustable waist (so hopefully it will last a couple of years) and was made as a complete circle and  fully lined with matching ivory lining for a nice “swooshy” and luxurious feel.  Three rows of navy gross grain ribbon around the bottom and a wider gross grain trim around the waist.

We often make character and song and dance costumes by constructing the top onto a leotard base to hold it all nicely in place and so that it is easy to dance in , does not restrict movement and also allows some room for growth as this part is made from stretch fabric.

Making the skirt as a separate item also allows us to make them with a rather ingenious adjustable waistband to get a perfect fit and also to allow some room for growth.  In addition making the skirt like this allows us to make the skirt as a complete circle which looks lovely when dancing as the fabric will move and swirl!

We get great feedback for our custom made dance costumes (take a look around our website) , clients cannot believe the end result and we offer a helpful and friendly service. As the parent of a dancer I understand how much the small details matter.  if you would like something special for a particular  solo , why don’t you get in touch for a quote, we will try and give you a rough estimate and once we have ironed out all the details with you we can give you a firm quote.  It is best to allow 3-4 weeks , more if possible.
